Last weekend at a Philadelphia Mall, former teammates Lenny Dykstra and Mitch Williams nearly came to blows. With former teammate Darren Daulton looking on, the two apparently have enormous beef from their playing days.
Dykstra, who has aged horribly and looks like hell, has spent some time in jail for grand theft auto and falsifying financial information. On the other hand, Williams post baseball life has gone the other direction and currently is a studio analyst for MLB Network.
Since the 1993 World Series, where Williams blew Game 7, allowing a Joe Carter walk-off, Dykstra has been quite vocal about Williams’s futility that year.
Using a simple eye test, I would have certainly guessed Williams would have been a wild Ted Nugent clone making idiotic statements and Dykstra would have been the quirky studio guy.
Guess I was wrong.
